【授課内容】（英語授課）It is an elective course, taken usually by students who are either in the 3rd or 4th year. This course has more potential for applications in industry as what is covered can be used to design many automation systems in industry. Sometimes such automation is referred to as “low-cost automation”. There is none of the traditional mathematics in this course but only Boolean Algebra, the mathematics for logic which is used in the design of digital computers.

【主講人簡介】符安超（Poo Aun Neow），男，1946年生，博士，新加坡國立大學機械工程教授，博士生導師。現任新加坡海洋産業協會主席、工作場所安全與健康協會委員，《Robotica》、《Journal of Robotic Systems》及《International Journal of Control and Intelligent Systems》雜志編委。

研究方向：機器人學與自動化、智能控制、機電一體化。

獲獎與榮譽：新加坡公共管理傑出貢獻銀獎，新加坡工程師協會金質獎章、新加坡工程師協會卓越工程成就獎，新加坡國立大學優秀教學獎、工程學院教學榮譽獎，新加坡海洋産業協會金質獎章，新加坡工程師協會榮譽院士，新加坡公共服務獎章等。

科研及學術成果：在國際期刊和會議上發表了250餘篇學術論文，引用率大于1300次；培養了19名博士生和30名工程碩士生；作為主席、副主席或組委會成員組織和參加了多次國際學術會議；獲美國、台灣和新加坡授權專利4項。
